July

July 4, Independence Day, is maybe the most outstanding day of this month.
It is the holiday celebrating the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. It declared the freedom of the original thirteen American colonies from British rule. You may have read much about this holiday in the previous issues of our magazine. However, experiencing this day on the territory of the United States is an unforgettable experience. The origin of the name July may be also familiar to you. Julius Caesar, the great Roman emperor and dictator, named this month after himself. As you may have read, he re-arranged the Roman calendar. This gave him a problem with the name of the seventh month. In the old calendar it had been the fifth month, and this was the meaning the fifth, so he decided to call it after himself.
